I had not received my daily english word from Farlex, I dont have the full grasp of the meaning of "generalization", thus I cannot give a complete response. You are saying something like the usual way of reacting is not right but that you look into it a little deeper before you make your response I guess.

Generality: An imprecise or vague statement or idea.(There are other definitions - but this is the one used in the cartoon). Examples would be things like: "All Christians are hypocrites." "All Muslims are evil." "All atheists are ' unspiritual'." "All women speak in generalities." Thank you Percival - I always make a point of never generalising. Never say never!
