Pure fun is to observe some continuous incapability to post a working link. Whistle

Hello--niblick

In order for the link to work you need to leave a space between the 'colon' and the letter 'h.' I, too have done this. That is why I use preview to check to make sure my links work.Anxious

Thank you, Christine for the correct link.

peace out, >^,,^<

I raise my hat to both ladies, too,
but for some reason, I'd liked Libnick to solve this all by perself.

Thank you for the link to B. B King.:)

I don't know why he isn't "up there" with all the great guitarists of the world...Maybe he IS but I just don't know it. I know his music/songs have always been great, but it was just now that I realized how well he played the guitar. I even saw him play one time in a bar in Detroit many years ago with people who talked me into going with them because he was going to be there. This was before I realized why the people I was with wanted to go there to see him play. The only thing I remember about it was that it was that it was very dark and smoky, and I think we were the only white people there. I remember stumbling along hanging on to the person in front of me and wound up at a small table almost directly in front of him a ways back. This was all so amazingly thrilling to me because I was in this very exotic (to me) environment where black ladies with incredibly long red fingernails stirred and sipped their drinks with their very red sensuous lips. Everyone was dressed up even though it was (it seemed to me)a dive bar in the ghetto. I remember he was sitting down when he played and the people around me would hollering out in agreement with him while he sang. I really enjoyed watching him sing and play his guitar this time too. I especially liked the men in the background dancing while they played.:)

Thank you, almost a free bird. This song for some reason made me think of something I haven't thought about for a long time. When I was in eighth grade, the nun that I mentioned the other day in another thread, approached me one day in the hall and asked me to come to her room after school because she wanted to talk to me about something. When I came to her room, she smiled and said she had a special favor to ask of me: Would I please write to her nephew in Vietnam. He was having a bad time being there and she was sure that he would appreciate receiving a letter every now and then. When I think about this now I am astonished that she asked this because after all I was only in eighth grade. I can't imagine why she didn't ask someone older, but maybe she didn't know anyone else to ask and my grade school only went to the eighth grade. i just couldn't believe this young man would want to hear from a thirteen year old. I do remember looking at her and asking her what should I say in my letters? She said "Oh, you could write him a poem. Or,just tell him about yourself and about the things that you are doing. You could send him a picture of yourself." She smiled and handed me his address. I felt very inadequate and bewildered, and over whelmed by this favor she was asking me to do for her. But because I like her very much as a teacher, I did my best to write him. After awhile I didn't receive letters from him and eventually learned he was killed in Vietnam. This song makes me think of him and the many others who died.

Marissa, your story is so poignant, the ending coming like a knife thrust in slow motion, I feel you really should put it in print, either as is, or developed into a short, short story. What an experience!

Thank you tootsie and MTC. It is a sad memory. I did write a poem about it a long time ago. I never thought about writing a story. Maybe I will one of these days. Thank you for your encouraging words and your belief that I actually could. :)

Marissa La Faye Isolde:

There were many soldiers in Viet Nam who had no one write them. Whenever mail call came, those who did not get any mail were visibly disheartened.

I imagine the soldier you wrote to, was thrilled to get a letter from you. It meant someone was thinking of him at a time when it seemed no one cared.

You can not know what that must have meant to him. Thanks.

Chris Matthews is a newsman on one of the cable news channels here in the U.S. He once made the comment on the air that he felt a "tingle" run up his leg every time he heard President Obama speak.

This was widely seen by political conservatives as sycophancy, and roundly mocked. Now, Mr. Matthews has begun to criticize Mr. Obama for not going far enough in his liberalism.

The blue pill refers to Viagra, of course.

I am sorry but I thought, Rubymoon, was referring to 10 mg valiums when writing--blue-vals, as proper valiums, not generic, are blue.

This appeared to me to be a joke concerning the herpes virus that lives on nerve tissue, and can not be cured as yet, but cause a nerve tingle before re-surfacing in a breakout. If valium suppresses it, its the first I've heard of it, but that's fine, and good news for sufferers.

My comment about viagra was related to the original post by niblick. The suggestion seemed to be that Matthews needed help in getting excited about Obama now.

GabhSigenod, you're getting more information than you really wanted to know, huh? Sick

Thank you foundit. I can now imagine how he must have felt.

Also thank you for explaining this thread. I have been lost through most of it...too embarrassed to ask for clarification.

Not a joke actually... just the first association that came to mind - was thinking bio/med, etc.
