West Point Opens (1802)West Point, New York, was the site of a military post established by George Washington in 1778. In 1802, Thomas Jefferson signed legislation establishing the United States Military Academy there. I had no idea West Point started the tradition of class rings. I would have imagined that the tradition was older, dating back to before 1835.
