Waffles

Waffles are light batter cakes cooked between two gridded hot plates that give the food its distinctive, pocketed pattern. The modern waffle has its origins in the wafers—thin, crisp cakes made from a mixture of barley and oats and baked between wafer-irons—that were popular in the Middle Ages. Today, a number of waffle varieties are enjoyed throughout the world, including Belgian, Liège, American, and Hong Kong-style waffles. When is International Waffle Day celebrated? More...

Bug, Your entry was not part of those listed.

If we are going to include things not on the list... eggs with chorizo and cheddar cheese wrapped up in a fresh tortilla with an ice cold glass of horchata.

I'm sure it's good but it has far too many carbs for me.

This. But instead of strawberries, put syrup. Yum, indeed.

Why should I have to choose? It depends on the day and how I feel. Done right, waffles have a texture and slight crunch that cannot be matched. French Toast, if made with french bread, and a little bit of vanilla and cinnamon added to the egg mixture, can be wonderful. Pancakes are very nice with blueberries, and perhaps with blueberry syrup.

If you are going to splurge on calories and forgo a bowl of cereal, toss the HFCS pancake syrup and use 100% pure maple syrup.

Why not the breakfast version of a turducken? A belgian waffle topped by a pancake and French toast (portugese sweet bread, two fried eggs over the top with lots of butter and syrup.

I can feel my arteries hardening at the thought.

BTW, I use real butter, Real maple syrup, and the french toast batter is eggs, Heavy cream, Meyer's dark rum (sub for vanilla), cinnamon, and a dash of nutmeg.
