Hi,

I use the french Dictionary. http://fr.thefreedictionary.com
When I used to search I used to get 3 parts.
1. Detailed Meaning of words with complete sentences and synonyms.
2. Summary of the meaning of the word in french, with small sentences.
3. Translation in English

I deleted cookies and history now I get only the 2nd and the 3rd part.
The detailed sentences with meanings and synonyms does not come,
It was very useful, Please help

Merci de votre réponse.

Hi allanb4me,
I moved the topic from the "Grammaire française" forum to this one because you'll have a lot more chance of an answer here.
Good luck with your query and I hope to read you soon on the French forums.

Thanks SandraM,
For moving the topic here.

When i Search "combinar" here http://es.thefreedictionary.com/combinar (Spanish Dict) I get all the parts.
but when i search "combiner" http://fr.thefreedictionary.com/combiner (Frehcn Dict) the top parts are missing.

Detailed... Before I used to get

Part 1:::

1. réunir, assembler.. Combiner des couleurs (assortir),
Ils ont combiné le matériel génétique de deux bactéries (mêler, unir).
2. se combiner .. Les dernières avancées biologiques se combinent avec les moyens informatiques
dans cette nouvelle technique chirurgicale,

Part 2:::

combiner
v t combiner [kɔ̃bine]
1 réunir, assembler
combiner des techniques
2 organiser
combiner un voyage

Part 3:::

combiner [kɔ̃bine] vt
(= assembler) [+ éléments, signes, styles] → to combine
combiner qch à qch, combiner qch avec qch → to combine sth with sth
(= organiser) [+ plan, horaire] → to work out, to devise

Now.. After having cleared my cookies/history..
When I search the same word..
only the Part 2 and Part 3 are displyaed.

Thanks,

SandraM

allanb4me,
I checked and I don't get the "part 1" either. It must be something to do with the cookie settings.
Unfortunately, I don't know anything about that and can't help you. You'll have to wait for the techie guys to reply on this forum. Hopefully, they'll be able to explain how to restore the display the way you want it.
Have a nice Sunday.

Unfortunately I can't help you either,
but noticed the same thing, combinar in Spanish dictionary results as you have showed us, but combiner in French:

The system recognises I'm from Finland so it offers Finnish translation. The Spanish page puts me to choose the translation language.

Hopefully the admins can find some guru who's sitting in Philly and can hack the system open ;-)

@ SandraM,
just curious, how did you move allanb4me's post here in Site Features?

@ allanb4me:

The changes you are seeing on the French page are unrelated to your cookie settings. Generally we like to add more resources to the site, but occasionally we must remove a publication. This was the case recently with one of our French dictionaries, and it resulted in the sort of changes to the French dictionary that you are seeing on the combiner page. We hope to have more French content for you soon.

@ Jyrkkä Jätkä:

SandraM is a moderator for the French forums and therefore has access to certain tools. We realize that leaving her rank listed as Advanced Member is confusing and are working on updating this to reflect her status. (Be patient, it may take a little time.)

I can appreciate the way you all have seemingly worked together, how between the two or three of you, the complete data set was available, when you cooperated, if you each had access to a different third.

I think a lot of people are able to figure out such scenarios, but few take the time to resolve the issue that had hindered you.

The only thing more responsible than resolving it for everyone behind you, is to make sure you know everyone behind you, or at least make sure you are the last one through at which point you can secure the door. But I don't sleep well until after I make sure the hide-a-key is positioned for those who were expected, but running late as per usual.

Unless of course one was to stand on the other side of the gate, but it's typically much too cold on the outside for that responsibility to be left to just one person.
