Can the "to" be removed? Options

During the recent China 70th anniversary national parade, a total of 70,000 pigeons were released at Tiananmen Square. Do you know where they went to ?. Many thought they ended up in the cooking pots. However, their final destination may surprise you. Watch video below for the answer.

Yes. It really isn't necessary.
