A shoe maker made a big, in fact, very big shoe for promotion purpose.
He put that shoe out of his shoe shop and wrote;
1. "Free for whom it fits."
A customer pointed out that it should read;
2. "Free to whom it fits."
Which one is more suitable? Or any other suggestion............

Clever. I'd pay for the first one but the second one sounds more natural.
EDIT: Welcome back, Kaleem!

I'd get a fit if I saw this sign. I mean, really, who would want ONE shoe? Most people need two.
It's that old marketing trick again, 'Get one for the price of two!'

"free to whomever it fits"
I prefer "whomever" to "whom" in this sentence, although I admit it is splitting hairs. Either "for" or "to" are OK by me.

I was wondering how to keep in step with this post but I did not want to lace it with puns.

Has anyone checked the sasquatch / bigfoot connection? Might be tied into or interlaced with this topic.

It's that old marketing trick again, 'Get one for the price of two!' If the shoe is big enough you only need one ;-)
