Exactly. When one manages to keep his soul aloft, he or she will generate feelings of confidence and accomplishment.

Context from :
The Letters of Gustave Flaubert: 1857-1880

To Laure de Maupassant - Paris, February 23, 1873
( Flaubert is talking about Guy De Mauoassant, to his mother Laure)

I think our boy is something of an idler, not too fond of work. I should like to see him undertake something long and exacting, execrable though it might turn out to be. What he has shown me is certainly as good as anything published by the "Parnassians" . . . With time he will acquire an originality, an individual manner of seeing and feeling ( which is everything). As to the result, as to his possible "success", what difference does it make? The principal thing in this world is to keep one's soul aloft. high above the bourgeois and democratic sloughs. The cult of Art gives one pride; no one can have enough of it. Such is my morality.

Yeah. As of comprising of some light substance, it’s fitting for souls to live in attics and garrets... Welcome, my dear.

"When your balls end up matrix-style floating in the air."
According to the Urban Dictionary, it is not just your soul that can go aloft.
