Hi teachers,
Would you help me understand what the audio says between 01:25-01:30? I mean where the red ellipsis is.
It says "It is a lot and then people rent bicycles too. You can get them from all kinds of shops and ... across the city".

Here is the audio:

Thanks.

shops and booths....

less substantial than a shop, more of a kiosk on the pavement or between shops.
(may even be an automated station, but to me a booth has to be enclosed, at least. eg a phone booth, a polling booth, tanning booth, as well as a stall at a fair.)

The sound of the th softens in the plural.

Random language trivia:
(old Viking word for a tented enclosure. English moved on to wooden sheds (called "shops") while Icelandic stayed with "búð" for a shop - now even a supermarket is a type of búð).

Hi thar,
Thanks a lot for your help. I thought it was "booths". But it didn't make sense to me. None of the definitions I found on the online dictionaries were appropriate. Now it does make sense. Angel

David.
