(ex) Tom had been working for ABC Store for over twenty years. He did not want to work there anymore. Two months ago, he changed his company.

What I mean by "changed his company" is that he left his company and he is now working somewhere else.

Is it correct to say "changed his company"? Thanks a lot.

No, you don't change your company. It is not yours to change.
You can change your tyre (tire), you can change your clothes, you could even be said to change your job, although it is more natural to say you change jobs.

But the company is not your possession. You work for them.
So when you move to another job, you move to another company.

If the company worked for you, you could change them!
You can change your law firm - that means you sack your old lawyers and engage a new law firm to work for you.

In AE, you would hear "He changed his job" or, more likely "He changed jobs" or, still more likely "He quit and changed jobs".

All of the above, unless deep in some explanatory context, will be taken to mean he left one employer and moved to another. These are all examples of casual conversation.

More formally, one can say "He left for another position" or, if he left without first finding another job, "He left the company".
