While both of these words are used to show the negative, knowing how and when to use ‘no’ and ‘not’ is an important skill and can make a big difference in your English.

Please explain the use of definite article "the" before "negative".
Shouldn't there be no article as "negative" seems to be uncountable in the given context.

It is used to show two sides of a position. From your link page:
"E.g. I do not like this colour."

That would be one side - the negative.

"I like this colour". That would be the positive side of the position.

So "no" and "not" can be used to show the negative side of something.

We should look to the past to learn from it, not destroy our future because of it — FounDit
