"Sales of our Mate 20 series have been off the charts, and we are excited to bring in the new Huawei Mate 20 X that many of our customers have been asking for,” said Cheng Jiangfei, managing director of Huawei Consumer Business Group Singapore."

What does "off the charts" mean?

Thanks.

Much higher than anything else - outside any normal measurement.

In this idiom 'the chart' is the graph showing a measurement - eg sales of this game over time. But the figures are so far outside this range they can no longer be shown on the chart.

Quote:

A chart is a graphical representation of data, in which "the data is represented by symbols, such as bars in a bar chart, lines in a line chart, or slices in a pie chart".[1]
