We enjoyed ourselves at a gathering.

Can we say that we had a cosy affair?

Thanks.

You can if the people you were with are very close friends. It's not a word we usually use for people we don't know very well, and especially so if some are strangers. Also, in American English we spell it "cozy", in case you see it that way.

I would say no.

It was a cosy affair - that describes the party. Everyone was sitting close together and talking easily to each other, in a gentle way. Nothing dramatic, loud or large-scale.

But if you had an affair, that means you cheated on your spouses and slept together over a period of time. If it was a cosy one, it again implies being undramatic and comfortable, not some raging passion!

That is not what you mean!
I would say:
The party was a cosy affair, and you had a nice evening together.
