Hello,

Quote:
A. Artist Rendering and Drawings
Artist Rendering.

B. An artist rendering of the royal chamber at Mycenea
An artist rendering

C. Artists Rendering of Medical School Development
Artists Rendering

Q1
How does one use 'Artist Rendering' (=Rendering, uncountable) and 'An artist rendering' (=rendering, countable) properly?

Q2
How does one use 'Artist Rendering' (=Artist, singular) and 'Artists rendering' (=Artists, plural) properly?

Thank you
thar

In my opinion:

It is a rendering by an artist - it is an artist's rendering.

Like an architect's drawing or a policeman's hat! Whistle

And those examples you gave are from people who may be good at other things, but not so good at English.

Normally you have one artist make the image, so it is singular artist's.

If you have lots of images from different artists, they would be artists' impressions (edit - or artists' renderings).

The number of artists is singular or plural - artist's or artists'
and the number of renderings is singular or plural - rendering or renderings.
The two can be combined in whatever way you want.

Unlikely as it is, you could have several artists contributing to one image - an artists' rendering.
Or you could have one artist making many images - an artist's renderings.
Or many artists, many images - artists' renderings.

Now you have to work out what 'an' refers to in those cases... it is a bit strange to get your head around.

These are examples of titles. The stylistic and grammatical rules for titles are different from everyday or formal speech.

The phrase "Artist Rendering" is correct and expressive of a singular or collective artistic expression of a concept or event.

In my humble yet informed opinion, the phrase "Artists Rendering" is a typographical mistake for either "Artist's Rendering" (a representation from one artist's point of view) or "Artists' Rendering" (a collection of images as rendered by several artists).

"Make it go away, Mrs Whatsit," he whispered. "Make it go away. It's evil."

Thank you very much, thar.

As to your questions:

'an' refers to the 'rendering' in 'an artists’ rendering'.

'an' refers to the 'artist' in 'an artist’s renderings'.

Yes, it is very odd. It was natural to write it that way, and then I realised they were actually two different ideas. In a sentence it might be different, but as a single phrase, it sounded natural that way.
