Doing well, thank you. I hope all is well with you, too.

In a way it is Robert has been polite enough to introduce himself to us, and as a far brighter person than me once pointed out polite comes from the root word in Ancient Greek of "Polis" meaning city. To be polite is to use behaviour appropriate to living in a city with neighbours and other citizens.

Politics comes from another Ancient Greek word " Politikos" which means "of or relating to the citizens of a city" and has the same "poli" starting syllable.

So politics and politeness are closely related.

Welcome Robert by the way.

I lack the imagination for a witty signature.

There are few political threads that are civil so this is a breath of fresh air.

Thank you Robert. Hope you are doing great as well.

Think
If an empty statement becomes "a breath of fresh air", we are in a real trouble... Politeness is a protocol desinged to facilitate a substantial discussion, and by no means can it replace it.

Hi Robert. So glad to hear from you so we know you are ok where machetes, not politeness, rule. My Canadian government says it is not safe to travel there. I missed seeing this thread because you are usually in the Knowledge and Culture sub forum, right?

What's happening where you live now? Do you have a semi normal safe life again?

I see the temperatures are in the mid twenties celsius right now which seems like perfect weather to me. Applause

Keep us posted.
