About 'more foods' (in the plural) and 'less food' (in the singular):
Please explain the contrast between the plural and the singular.

"More foods" refers to individual food items. "Less food" refers to total overall food consumption in general. That's good advice IMHO.

Yeah, 'More foods' is possible use 's' for each element of the group and using singular for all group such as 'less food'.

Could also have used "fewer foods" -- the countable form, that would have matched the earlier portion of the sentence better, in my opinion.

Does the 'more foods' put emphasis on the individuality of each food item in comparison with the 'more food'?

Yes. It implies "more different kinds of food".
