I’d grip the inside of the bicep, pull their arm down past the left side of my body and drive my chest into them.

At first, it felt totally awkward and my initial inclination was to always ask, how am I doing?!

At some point, it clicked and the movement became more fluid.

A tight grip, a strong pull and a powerful push into their body, taking them off-balance.

I didn't have to think about it so much.

Again — it was a simple movement but when my sparring partner told me, “dude! Much better, man,” I could temporarily feel my weeks and months of frustration dissipate a bit.

It was still there, but less prominent.

Like a minor ache, rather than an acute, chronic pain.

Would it be wrong if "dude" were capitalised?

Thanks.

I'd say that "Dude" needs to be capitalized, for two reasons.

(1) It's the first word of a quoted utterance.
(2) As used here, it's a form of direct address.

Note — "Bicep" is not a word. The singular of "biceps" is "biceps". (Similarly triceps and quadriceps; also forceps, if it can be said to ever be singular.)
