I know that the collocation "silvery hair" refers to a rather rare natural color, as well as to a color that you can get by dying hair.

Can you tell me please if it also refers to the color that people's hair grows with age?

Yes, a more positive image than grey.
U
I wouldn't use it for the natural hair colour of anyone (I mean their youthful hair colour, before they go grey), except maybe Tolkein"'s elves!

Sexy older men with grey hair can be called 'silver foxes'. Whistle

Just 'cos I know you won't be offended - don't confuse dyeing and dying!

My first reaction was pure white hair on older folks that shines. But nope. I googled photos of silver hair. They all came up young women with highlights. Why do they want to look older? lol. They'll get old soon enough.

And the photos of the dyed silver hair are what we would call "salt and pepper" on older folks.

Good one, Ro.

FD - That isn't silvery hair...that's blonde. Dolly will ALWAYS be blonde until she shuffles off her mortal coil, I reckon.

(She'll also always be a lovely woman, I think.)

I was going through many pics of Dolly and that one looked silver when I saw it on the website. Enlarged, it does look more blonde. Still, at 71, I would hardly call her and old lady even if she did reveal the silver hair I suspect is under the blonde coloring...Applause

I also nearly choose Lonnie Anderson, but with both of these women, when one has gobs of money, wonderful things can be done to postpone the ravages of time.

Edit: And genes play a big role in that.

Dolly always says it takes a lot of money to look this trashy. lol. She's honest, good-hearted, and generous. I've always liked her. Some good music too!

The older you get, the older it is before you're old. 100 and over is old. The young think anybody over thirty is old. :)

Personally I like pure white hair. Wonder why. Whistle Maybe a touch of purple or pink on top. On Friday popular Toronto talk show TV host Marilyn Denis pointed out a couple of younger audience women with streaked purple hair and said, "That is so in."

Edited - found some pix of Helen Mirren and Judi Dench. I think both of them are natural colors or mostly natural and some pix of them now look white, even silvery.

Who would call this 62-year-old woman "an old lady"?

Nobody I know, but then we try not to label people.

I speak British English (standard southern, slightly dated).

You seem to be too picky. Google sees old ladies a bit differently.
Old ladies

Anyway, I think I will be happy if I look that good when I’m her age.

A lot of men have to deal with the fact that they have lost or are losing a lot of their hair. But whether you call it white or silvery, David Suzuki, a well-known Canadian environmentalist, has a gorgeous mane of hair. Besides that, he's a good man and a trusted scientist who has spent his life educating people about many topics. His focus is nature, including the human animal. He has aged well too - he's in his eighties now and some of these pix were taken not too long ago. Perhaps his heritage and genetics help him too.

There are photos of him on this link.

Helene, yes, your model looks good for 62. That's about when I decided it was time to lose the bikini. :)

Being healthy is more important than looks but I bet, as well as a bit of the tweaking they can do today without actual surgery, that she takes care of her body with all the rules of health that we know are helpful. I bet Suzuki does too. I'll never forgive William Shatner for how he let himself age. Whistle

So you can look as good as she does when you get there, but you have to do the work NOW. Once you get there, it's too late.

Michio Kaku has similar hair(color) to that of David Takayoshi Suzuki.

I wonder if they are natural hair or dyed hair.

God only knows.

Only then? Wow! The fact that you could afford to wear it until then does you credit. I even feel the need to set the date when I start doing morning exercises.Think

OK - it's a bit blonde at the ends in winter, but in the summer it's definitely silvery.
