Vet Kong used rubber band booby traps. Finns made extensive use of booby traps against the invading Soviet troops, trapping Russians marauders

However, this sort of explosive implement was largely produced prior to that time. During the WW2 many IEDs were used by local and non-military forces as a defensive form of protection, mostly fighting on the allies side. Much of those techniques were taught by the US and French Army members to engage the locals in battles where their help was most needed.
A Holywoodian instance of an IED use is a scene of the film The Private Ryan when a US Army Commando has the mission o defend a bridge in a French city.
