Just out of curiosity Pedro, to which of the potential dooms do you refer?

Jacob!
Still, such an end would indeed be enough to ensure we all were blown to smithereens with smiles on our faces.
(Indeed, we would be said to have "died laughing"!)

Yes, we are doomed, but I exempt myself from all blame, just like all of the others do. So, there you are, I am doubly damned; but I deny any culpability.

Quote:9 Behold, the day of the Lord cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.
15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.
16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.
17 Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.
18 Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.
19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.
20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.
21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.
22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged. So it sounds like Drago does OK but the rest of us are well buggered. Ah, religion. Welcome to Babylon. Such peace and love!

This sounds sort of . . . contradictory to the quote in the other thread. Quote:Wherefore, enter you all into the joy of your Lord; and receive your reward, both the first, and likewise the second. You rich and poor together, hold high festival. You sober and you heedless, honor the day. Rejoice today, both you who have fasted and you who have disregarded the fast. The table is full-laden; feast ye all sumptuously. The calf is fatted; let no one go hungry away. . .. Let no one weep for his iniquities, for pardon has shown forth from the grave. You know why you are doomed, don't you? You don't take practical measures to ensure a happy life! Quote:Construction Modified for the Sake of Elves BY JELENA ĆIRIĆ BUSINESS May 25, 2018 09:37
An apartment complex in Hveragerði, South Iceland was redesigned to accommodate a rock many locals believe houses elves, RÚV reports. Construction is beginning on the project, which was modified in the planning stages to ensure the elf house on the lot remained intact.
“We found ourselves naturally in an unexpected situation,” stated Gísli Steinar Gíslason, chairman of the board of Suðursalir, the company in charge of the construction. “It turned out that there has been an elf house here for a long time. And we decided in partnership with the town to change the layout of the buildings and reduce the amount of construction around the elf house so they have their space in the area.”
The complex will include 77 small apartments, the first of which will be 55-95 square metres in size. “We believe this is exactly what’s missing in the market. If you look at Reykjavík there are of course very high apartment prices there and here we can offer this at a significantly better price,” Gísli remarked.
The newsroom could not reach any local elves for comment, but believes it safe to assume they are satisfied with the outcome. Its not that people 'believe in elves' so much as they understand you have to work with them, not against them.

Though they couldn't find any elves to comment, one local sheep, Baabaara, commented that the troubled feelings recently felt in the area had all dissipated at the time of the decision. Wyrd bið ful aræd - bull!

Ah,yes - even the elves have to keep the sheep happy. And they have strong opinions. Almost three times as many sheep as people, which is enough in itself - but then there are the smart super-sheep. Not even trolls mess with them! Quote: It is an amazing ability - to be able to predict the weather. I can tell you that I have always had the greatest respect for the leader-wethers and am happy that a Study Centre on this amazing sheep has been opened.
The leader-wethers have been much cherished here in Iceland through the centuries and have been deemed more valuable than the ordinary sheep. There are many stories about the leader-wethers and an excellent book has been written on their extraordinary leadership, Forystufé.
The leader-wethers have saved many a horde and people from dying in blizzards. One story tells us about the black leader-wether, Svínavatns Svartur, which back in 1884 saved its horde and a big group of searchers from a blizzard. It walked in front of the horde for hours facing the blizzard and only returned to the horde when the ice on its face was so thick that it couldn't see anymore.
The searchers helped the leader-wether by breaking the ice off its face and it then continued leading them to safety.
The best-known leader-wether in Iceland is Eitill, the leader-wether of Fjalla-Bensi, but you can read about it in the popular book Aðventa or the Good Shepherd, which was written by the noted Icelandic author Gunnar Gunnarsson.
Weather-predicting heroic sheep who can navigate through blizzards, elves living in rocks - it is all the same really! When things get rough, you just need someone there to help! (And any excuse to write a book!) When, during the Cold War, there were American military bases on Iceland, they were very unpopular and there was a lot of popular pressure to get them out as they were part of the whole Arms Race madness and making Iceland a target. One group got on a bus and went to the super-secure spying base and protested that the AWACS planes were disturbing the elves. Because it was an elf-welfare inspection and not a political protest, the Americans had to let them in. They inspected the base and left. It was an excuse, of course - but coming from a genuine origin. The elves look after the land - you have to look after the elves. You never know, they might yet prevent World War III!

Thanks, Drago. I should comment that the use of 'horde' in that article is a rather inventive translation of Icelandic hjörð - herd, flock of sheep. It does give a rather lovely dramatic picture of Mongol hordes of sheep rampaging about the hills, though - being led by a brave leader sheep.
