Today is a good opportunity for commuters to remind ourselves to be grateful to the silent, everyday heroes who make our daily trips on public transport possible.

Shouldn't it be "themselves"?

Thanks.

"Themselves" would sound more normal. But "ourselves" isn't wrong if the speaker is including himself in "commuters."

I would leave 'ourselves' but add an 'us' in the part 'a good opportunity for us commuters'. It does indeed sound a bit odd otherwise.

I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. (Anon)
