Hello respected teachers,

Plot is the sequence of incidents or events of which a story is composed. When recounted by itself, it bears about the same relationship to a story that a map does to a journey.

What does 'recounted by itself' mean in the above?

I am looking forward to your answers.

You go first.

Say what you have put together so far.

What does 'recount' mean in this context, of a story?

'What does 'by oneself' mean, in something like 'he is sitting by himself, all alone'?
Or 'they did it by themselves, without any he!p from me'.

If the plot is recounted 'by itself', then what is not there?
What have you removed, to leave just the 'map' instead of the journey?

What is normally in a story, as well as the plot?

To tell...

'What does 'by oneself' mean, in something like 'he is sitting by himself, all alone'?

Nobody is beside him...

Characters, setting, conflict, resolution...

What have you removed, to leave just the 'map' instead of the journey?

I don't follow you...

What is normally in a story, as well as the plot?
Characters, setting, conflict, resolution...

Got it. Recounted by itself means considered in isolation, right?

I am looking forward to your answers.
