Hello respected teachers,

Would you please check my description of the following chart?

The graph shows the number of parcels delivered by FedEx and TNT, two major mail companies, between 1920 and 2000. Overall, the figure for FedEx was three times as high as that of TNT in the beginning of the period, but they reached almost the same level in the middle of the survey, before TNT ended the period above FedEx.

In the first decade, TNT had about 5000 parcel delivery while FedEx stood at around 15000. The figure for TNT rose steadily to around 12000 in the 1960s, before a slight decrease to around 10000. In the meanwhile, FedEx started the period with a sharp growth to just under 25000 cases in the 19400s, followed by a plunge of about 10000 in the 50s. Then it leveled off for the next decade before climbing to around 15000 in the 70s.

A closer look at the graph reveals that while the TNT rocketed for the rest of the period to around 25000 cases in 2000, FedEx remained at around the same level to end the period at just above 15000 cases.

My suggestion:

Overall, the figure for FedEx was three times as high as that of TNT in the beginning of the period, but they reached almost the same level in the middle of the survey (1960), before TNT ended the period well above FedEx.

In the first decade, TNT had about 5,000 parcels delivered while FedEx stood at around 15,000. The figure for TNT rose steadily to around 12,000 in the 1960s, before a slight decrease to around 10,000 in 1970. Over the same time period, FedEx experienced sharp growth to just under 25000 cases in the 1940’s, followed by a plunge of about 10,000 in the 50s, then rebounding to around 17,000 in 1970.

The remainder of the graph reveals that while the TNT rocketed for the rest of the period from 10,000 in 1970 to around 25,000 cases in 2000, FedEx remained at around the same level of 15,000 parcels in the year 2000.

In addition to what FounDit has suggested, I would not describe them as "mail companies", but rather as "delivery services".

"Make it go away, Mrs Whatsit," he whispered. "Make it go away. It's evil."
