Her name stuck with me from the early years of my journalism career till now because it is a moving and very tragic story.

Back in 2005, just a few years into my job as a crime reporter, Ms Goh was sentenced to jail for the first time for shoplifting.

Is 'stuck' correct? Shouldn't it be 'has stuck'?

Thanks.

"Has stuck" would be better, I think.
