1. I cast my vote as I think (it/my vote is) right? Does this clause leave out the subject or something else or it is not a clause at all?

2.Does "perchance" describe "I cast my vote" or "I think right"?

The pronoun 'I' is the subject in this sentence. Nothing is missing.

This is quoted as:

Quote:
I cast my vote, perchance, as I think right; but I am not vitally concerned that that right should prevail.

And it means "possibly as I think right".

I made a mistake. Is it right if I write "I think + adjective"? What does "right" describe?

but I am not vitally concerned that that right should prevail.

Is "that right" the same as "right" in "as I think right"?

I think it will become clearer if you use a different synonym for 'right'.

It is not about being 'correct' - it about being 'fair, just' - moral duty.

I vote according to my conscience.
I vote as I think fair.

Everything which has been said before is correct.

To paraphrase the whole thing in more modern English (you would NEVER hear someone say 'perchance' in this century unless they were joking) -

Maybe I would vote for what I think is fair, but I'm not really bothered whether the right I vote for wins or not.

Maybe I would vote for what I think is fair, but I'm not really bothered what happens.

**********
"as I think fair" is a very formal, old-fashioned way of saying "as I think is fair" or "in a way which I think is fair".

It is an adverbial, modifying the whole main clause "I cast my vote".
"Perchance" also seem so modify the whole sentence (it is separated by commas from both of the shorter clauses).

PS - as I said earlier. Thoreau is not a good example to use when learning English.
Try something from the late twentieth century!

You can use it as an adverb:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/right

Quote:
adv.
3. In the proper or desired manner; well: The jacket doesn't fit right.
7. According to law, morality, or justice.
8. Accurately; correctly: answered the question right.

And as a noun:

Quote:
n.
1. That which is just, moral, or proper.

One has to pay for that. This is why I choose 'Robinson Crusoe' and I like it more than say this:

The latest that I could find for free is this:

But I am a sort of misogynist and the thought of reading a book written by a woman gives me willies. :)

I can understand that you would not enjoy the medical mass-murder story or "Gone With the Wind".

However, many of the writers I enjoy most are women:
Zenna Henderson
Andre Norton
Anne McCaffrey
Ursula K. LeGuin
Mary Shelley (not 20th century)
C.J. Cherryh
Marion Zimmer-Bradley
Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (17th century, but great Science-fiction)
Robyn Hobb
Tanith Lee
James Tiptree, Jr (Alice B. Sheldon)

In the early 1980s one of my friends used to say "How can one take seriously a nation governed by a woman?"

Note that wasn't I but when a week ago I heard one of LBC hosts say "Theresa May is my heroine" I turned off the radio. :)

Quote:
Im Radio ist eine Putin
Im Radio ist eine Putin
Der macht Gugelugu

But I digress...
