NOT A TEACHER

Dear (Advanced) Learners:

This is a really important expression. If you do not already know it, I hope that my example will give you the general idea. This is an expression that you may want to occasionally use.

*****

Raul: I'm taking you to the Strand Theater tonight to watch that new movie.

Mona: That's great. But you know that I insist that we sit in seats #1 and #2 in row #12.

Raul: We have gone there 20 times, and we have always sat in those seats.

Mona: But suppose some people are sitting in those seats tonight?

Raul: We will cross that bridge when we come to it. ( = If some people are already sitting in those seats, we will decide at that time what to do about the situation. Let's not waste time now worrying about that possibility.)

Mona and Raul went to the theater.

Oh, my God! Some people were sitting in those seats!

Mona wanted to leave.

Raul spoke with those people.

He offered them each $50.

Mona and Raul enjoyed the movie very much.

I wish you all a nice (Wednes)day. (A bit of trivia that I just heard this morning: This year the month of May has five Wednesdays.)

I ordered some chops at a local butcher today.
And I will buy a large number of bangers at a butcher in my neightboring town tomorrow; They sell best bangers in the world but I have to travel there. I don't want to go there often so I am planing to get some substantial amount.
And I will get some stockbones that will take up considerable space as well.
I already have some meats in the freezer and some leftovers should go into the freezer as well.
I don't know whether there will be enough space for all these meats in my freezer.
Think Think Think

Well... I will cross that bridge when I come to it.

Have a nice day, Parser!
Thanks.

Thanks for introducing the word "banger" (sausage) to me!

Have a great Wednesday evening!

There is another expression with a similar meaning.

Don’t worry about the mule going blind(, just load the wagon).

I heard this expression in the movie Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974).

If Alice hadn't met Harvey Keitel...

Thanks, Coag, for teaching me that expression. I had never heard it before.

Almo, I am too stupid and old to understand the meaning of your comments, but I thank you for your contribution.

I wish you both a great day! (It'll be a nice warm day here. Hope the weather's nice where you two are.)

I like the expression. I will bag it as well. Cheers, Coag.

Hello TheParser,

I think almo 1 is just remembering the movie.

The actor Harvey Keitel appears in the move. He plays a rough character, Ben Eberhardt, who treats women badly and from whom Alice had to run away. In the scene on alamo 1's link, Alice is trying to get a job as a singer. Gone with the wind are lyrics of a song she sings.

Greetings from Toronto to you, FROSTY X RIME, and almo 1.

Thanks a lot, Coag, for the explanation.

Have a great weekend!
