I don't get why the part in bold is there. It sound out of place. What does being round and shaped have to do with having a wheel?

The wheel is used as a table and it is made to spin quickly.
This makes it easy to make things perfectly round and correctly-shaped.

A potter's wheel is a common equipment to help make pottery round. Not only making round, it also helps in making some shapes like cones, earthen candles etc. Without the potter's wheel, the shape may not be round, uniform, balanced and proportionate.
