That thing in your face looks quite weird, Hope. What is it?

One gram of antimatter.

Kunstniete, what would you do with one gram of anti matter?

(Sell it and buy a country. According to NASA, it would cost $62.5 trillion to make a gram of antihydrogen. As a comparison all the real estate in the USA has an estimated value of $25.7 trillion. If you could find buyers (which you couldn't) you'd have enough money to buy ALL the buildings in the USA twice, and still have almost enough to pay off the national debt. Of course, no one has this much money. It's more than 3 times the national debt of the USA. So chances are you couldn't sell all of it. More importantly, you'd have a hell of a time keeping it. Antimatter is EXTREMELY difficult to store because if it touches anything made of matter (everything else in the universe) it is destroyed in a massively energetic explosion.

There in lies the other problem, if you did let that gram of antimatter touch ANYTHING AT ALL, it would explode yielding 1.8×10 to the 14 joules. That's as much as the bombs that fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined.)

Hope, would you tell me a nice bedtime story?

A giant scoop of ice-cream.

Of course one gram sounds not so much if you think about it from an everyday-life-perspective. But think if you change that to a physicist's view, one gram is vast. Usually you don't quantify certain things in amounts that big, just think about elementary particles, atoms, DNA, even viruses and chemical compounds. So, from a scientist's perspective, one gram of antimatter is more than you can ever imagine, although even smaller amounts would be quite pricey. Maybe this stuff is the last step after the atom bomb before we return to clubs.
