Very depressing that humans have done this to the oceans, the land, the air, and the whole environment and are dragged kicking and screaming to even admit they had anything to do with it. The largest cause of bleaching is high water temperatures.

And the country that has the highest carbon footprint now has a leader determined to add to the pollution with his declawing of Obama's regulations. He just lowered the bar for vehicle emissions and the car manufacturers love him.

"If these temperatures persist for longer periods (eight weeks or more) corals begin to die. High water temperatures can affect reefs at regional and global scale. Other stressors can also cause bleaching, including freshwater inundation (low salinity) and poor water quality from sediment or pollutant run-off."
