I get a little hoarse when talking about ponies. (Do you Punish or Pardon that one?)
When a visitor caught me in the nude I just had to grin and bare it. (Punish or Pardon?)
We called him "The Tortise" because he taught us. (Punish or Pardon?)

Being an unapologetic devotee of puns I would enthusiastically pardon the first two and would release the perpetrator of the third with the mildest of warnings: 'Tortoise' for 'taught us' does qualify as a pun in certain non-rhotic or aberrantly rhotic dialects of English.

How about:
We called him "The Tortise" because he's always snapping at us.

On the side of a steep hill an auditor sighed at the sight of a loud crowd of cyclists who were not allowed on the site for reasons long steeped in myth and mystery. They had no right so he began to write all their names and as a bell in the distance tolled he told them to leave. One by one they kicked him in his left leg as they left and rode down the road on rented bikes. Though the audit was costly the state could afford it and would give the auditor many a plaudit. On his way home with all the names he had written the appreciative villagers noticed he walked with a list.
