Hi there

I have to figure out some vocabulary
that I'm not familiar with:

A imitated parfume (not produced by it's
originater) is a copy parfume or
a counterfeit parfume?

Is McDonald's a fast food unit or a
fast food outlet?

Normally I would say that it is a fast food chain
but this option isn't given.

Thanks in advance

Fake or pirate perfume?

In McDonalds' site they call them restaurants ;-)

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Adding to J.J.s:

A single McDonalds could be considered a "unit" of that fast food restaurant "chain". A better word for a single restaurant would be a "franchise".

The entire corporation is the chain of fast food restaurants called McDonalds.

Assuming that someone had copied the parfume(perfume - usually in A.E.) with the intent to sell it fraudulently (i.e. to pretend it is the original) then you have a counterfeit parfume. This has a legal meaning.

If you were to use "copy" it would be a copy of (brand name) parfume.

Is McDonald's a fast food unit or a
fast food outlet?

If you were an administrator or executive of McDonald's, you might use the term "unit" or "store" to designate a particular restaurant, but under most circumstances a McDonald's or a Burger King is a fast food outlet. E.G.

"There are many fast-food outlets along the highway. We will easily find a place for lunch."

You are correct that when you refer to the entire corporation, McDonald's or Wendy's is a fast food chain.

When referring to an individual restaurant in daily conversation one would most often hear: "Let's find a McDonald's for lunch" or "Let's go to McDonald's for lunch" or "Let's go to the McDonald's on Main Street." People are too lazy to include "restaurant" when they don't need to.

If you were going to drive and were thinking about buying food quickly and driving on or going back to work, you might hear "Let's go to the McDonald's drive-in on Main Street."

"Outlet" is rarely used in daily conversation (laziness, again).
It is used in cases like the one I gave above, where one is referring to fast-food outlets which probably includes more than one chain; it would also be common in a news report: "There was a robbery, today, at the McDonald's outlet on Main Street."

Thanks in advance
