I want to say: she caused a racket when she knocked over the mops.

is the correct translation: Elle a fait de vacarme quand elle renverser les vadrouilles

or is it: Elle a fait de vacarme quand elle renverser des vadrouilles?

Thanks in advance. All help will be appreciated.

I suppose this thread belongs in the English-French topic.

You'll need to conjugate your second verb: "quand elle a renversé", and it's "du vacarme" (literally: some racket). As for the end of the sentence, "les vadrouilles" is the correct translation of "the mops"; "des vadrouilles" would be "mops" ("des" being an indefinite article here). Finally, the translation of "mops" is one of those words about which French speakers can't agree, it all depends on where in the French-speaking world one is from. I would personally never use "vadrouille", a term I identify (perhaps wrongly) as being used in Quebec -- something to discuss in the Régionalismes thread, maybe?

Hope that helps!
