BTW, his eyes are closed, how will he look at the skies??

I believe that if one always looked at the skies, one would end up with wings.

It means that if you keep your target high and constantly aim for it, you get resources to reach there. You should neither lower your target nor should avoid trying to achieve it, no matter what.

He looks sleepy. Perhaps he'll soon dream of that azure blanket hanging above us?

I believe if you stop looking at the skies for a couple of minutes, go to your workshop and build some wings, then you are much more likely to end up with wings!

It's an excellent quote, inspiring humans to follow their ambitious dreams and goals. The following quote also fits here:
"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.", Les Brown.

A bend in the road is not the end of the road unless you fail to make the turn.

The author merely describes the results of perseverance.

Aspiring to what is grand in the human being
allows the soul to soar among our highest aspirations,
and elevates our lives to a higher plane of existence.

Good to hear from you Geeman, I have missed your posts. Funny reality check! But we all need goals and dreams as our first step toward aspiring for better things in life. Isn’t aspiration a part of realization?

I like this quote a lot, despite its rather Lamarckian tone.

I think therefore I think I am

If one looks skyward long enough, something with wings will do a fly-by and leave dookey in your eye.

I'm glad elephants don't fly.

"Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless, and do no wrong". (Knight's Oath, Kingdom of Heaven)

To icbarros:

Was Daedalus's son not Icarus, whose wings were melted by the sun?

There is a film: *Burnt by the Sun* in which the hero flew too high,
and his antagonist--flew to low...A very symbolic film
about idealism and the choices one makes in life.
I think it was a very good film about living with one's self
and the consequences of one's actions.

a biologist who had theories about soft inheritance, that you can pass on things you gain during your lifetime, and not purely your genes.

eg giraffes reach high in trees, and get longer necks, so they have offspring with longer necks. Rather than Darwinism where giraffes with naturally longer necks do better and have more offspring.

Lamarck was an OK guy, and didn't propose half the things he is claimed to have said. Lysenko, on the other hand, used his beliefs to starve millions and hold soviet russia back 200 years. He would have sewn the wings on you without your consent and thrown you out of the aeroplane!
