Nova on PBS had an episode about this the other week. You can watch the full episode online.

PS - Don't forget to maximize the video to full screen.

Frankly, I was not impressed. This is another of the many efforts to "prove" that humans are descended from apes -- a conclusion with which I cannot agree.

It is a simple fact, true whether you agree with it or not. Not even remotely subject to anyone's opinion. It is as much a fact as (liquid) water being wet or gravity.

Look, how about this? Let's pretend we've had the row and I've won. See? It saves a lot of effort.

Apes were descended from fish, a billion years ago.

How about we phrase these things in a way that is less likely to be misunderstood? Apes did not descent from fish, apes and fish descended from a common ancestor.

Thank you, Oscar, for the link!! I will watch it. The article conveyed the sense of excitement and wonder during the discovery. I can imagine the film will do even more.

Funny, I totally forgot that this could end up being a 'controversial' topic for some. Narrow mindedness like that is senseless.

Thanks, IrvinaWa.

It is also the subject matter of Paleobiology.
