One of my student's send me pictures of their Korean sweets.

This is what do they call Tteok.
Tteok refers to all kind of rice cakes made from either pounded rice (메떡, metteok), pounded glutinous rice (찰떡, chaltteok), or glutinous rice left whole, without pounding. It is served either filled or covered with sweetened mung bean paste, red bean paste, mashed red beans, raisins, a sweetened filling made with sesame seeds, sweet pumpkin, beans, jujubes, pine nuts, and/or honey).

And Hangwa or Hahngwa

Hangwa is a general term referring to all types of Korean traditional confectionery. The ingredients of hahngwa mainly consists of grain flour, honey, yeot, and sugar, or of fruit and edible root.

The size of a cinnamon roll varies from place to place, but many vendors supply a smaller size about 5 cm in diameter and a larger size about 10 cm to a side. The largest variety can be found in Finland, (called Korvapuusti, "a slap on the ear"), where it can be up to 20 cm in diameter and weighing 200 grams (about 7 ounces).

Uh, Oh! I just downed 1/3 tin of Wasabi & Soy flavored Almonds Drool (described as INTENSE on the label)...after browsing here I realize I need CHOCOLATE to soothe my stomach.

Got one problem, though. No chocolates in the house except, HUMMM ...Pray in the guest bedroom awaiting their arrival. Now, do you suppose one small piece will be missed??? Anxious Think Dancing

Hi, Jeanne islanddreamer. It's good to see you posting again. Perhaps we need a new topic in Site Features where members who have been away from the forums can, if they like, let us know what they have been up to during their absence. Although recently we seem to have more goings than comings, having a thread where returnees may ring everyone's doorbell and say Howdy! would be convenient.
You are very good at naming topics. Would you like to create it?

At any rate, welcome back and thanks for the King Arthur waffles. Yummm!

Mine is a homemade liquer. No picture, sorry. Made from a fruit called "krania" in Greek (the European Cornel in English) and tsipouro, another Greek drink similar to raki, about 45& alcohol. Cheers!
