Very distinctive.

There are too many of them. Some superb, others just great.

So to mention one of the greatest IMHO. Al Pacino in "Scent of a Woman".

BTW welcome back fred. I haven't seen ( heard) you around for a while or probably just missed you when you wrote.

Oh oh J.J. You got me good with this one. I didn't pay enough attention to fred's post date. That's why I was surprised with his/her comeback. Might still be watching us like the god from above but being silent. If he/she ever come back I would like him/her to bring along the eleventh commandment.

Since I wasn't around to see it the first time, I'm kind of glad he did.

And speaking of time, I'm a little surprised that as long this thread has run, no one has mentioned Orson Welles yet.

An actor with rather peculiar enunciation would be Timothy Carey.

IMDB wrote:
Timothy Carey had one of the most unusual careers of all Hollywood character actors, obtaining full cult status for his portrayals of the doomed, the psychotic and the plain crazy.

In most of his roles he spoke with what seems to my ear to be a calculated mumble that draws the listener in to his words and forces attention on him in a way that is often more powerful than if he were shouting.

Yet perhaps his most peculiar performance — some might say his masterpiece — was as Clarence Hilliard in The World's Greatest Sinner, which he also wrote and directed, and for which Frank Zappa composed the score to the soundtrack.

"Make it go away, Mrs Whatsit," he whispered. "Make it go away. It's evil."
