Social Media Use Surges among Older Adults

More and more people ages 50 and older are joining social networks. Over the past year, the number of older adults using sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn has nearly doubled. Ten percent of Internet users over 50, meanwhile, say they use Twitter or other status update services. Most have been introduced to social networking by their children, and many use the sites primarily to keep in touch with family and friends.
