 Iroquois Confederacy Is Formed (1142)The Iroquois Confederacy is a North American confederation of indigenous peoples, initially comprising the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca. Six Nations reservation in Ontario Canada was a place I visited with a Toronto Art gallery buyer of soapstone. So many years ago on a grey rainey day, I was made an honorary member of the Heron clan. My gift (from a talented silversmith who used the 'lost wax' craft) was a beautiful ring and the legends of the clans. He was so very nice to us on that bleak cold and rainey day.

I lived for four years in Central New York where several of these tribes reside and still maintain a substantial presence.
