My first job was an English teacher at school. The salary was so little that I am even ashamed of speaking about it. In spite of the fact that that was the year of 2000, the situation has not changed at all in 2010

Afterwards hopefully you'll get the courage to share the one in Russia. A teacher in his/her first year gets less than $200 a month. So, how much is it in your country. Less, more?

£6 went to parents for my board and lodging; £1 for fares; I was left with £1, and I paid an account for clothing. Parents had 8 children to support. C/c, you have told a bit about yourself earlier, and about your tough times. Thanks for sharing yourself.
Just (jokingly) curious, I couldn't get your mathematics. £6 + £1 + £1 = £8; you did get only £7. Were you not in Australia? I reckon you call it Aus Dollars there. We are responsible for what we are, and whatever we wish ourselves to be, we have the power to make ourselves. ~ Swami Vivekanand

Nata and Uni, I bet you'll be surprised to hear the salary of some teachers in India. At currect conversion rate, $200 comes to about Rs 90K - Rs 10K. But in India, some teachers still get not more than Rs 2000 per month in some private small schools. But of course, the living standards of the cities in India and your country may vary.
