Opinion can lead to untrue. Too bad, some people can't see that.

I am carrying my heart~I am carrying my rhythm~I am carrying my prayers~But you can't kill my spirit~It's soaring and strong (Paula Cole's Me Lyrics)***We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We ARE spirtual beings having a human experience.(T.deChardin)***There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. (Albert Einstein)

I sense a note of irony. I think that this is a perverse sentence, and certainly untrue one. If I don't like/support/entertain an opinion it does not mean that its persistent and fervent eulogist is a bigot, a hypocrite. Let's just say that there's a deep difference of opinion between us, and distinctions in understanding given matter.

You know he was being sarcastic, right?

This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force. --Dorothy Parker

Yes, that is why I wrote that I sense a note of irony in that perverse, sarcastic sentence. :)

But in a way, the way people throw their insults so lightly, it could definitely mean that.

I enjoy the satire in the definitions provided by Ambrose Bierce. Here are a few more of his wise and humorous definitions.

Egotist: A person…more interested in himself than in me.

Cabbage: A…vegetable about as large and wise as a man’s head.

Enough: Definition of “Once.”

Lawsuit: A machine you go into as a pig and come out of as a sausage.

I can agree it could mean that in a quite twisted way. People usually insult/judge each other so lightly and quickly, trying to diminish/underestimate their opponent's opinion by voicing that one must be blind not to see the obvious (in this case, it could be a statement expressed by one side of that discussion). On the other side, most of fervent conversations usually end up with that kind of "agreement": OK, our views are different, and we can't accept the adversary's version as a true one, because it is against our beliefs/convictions and everyone goes his/her own way again. ;-)

And that way we made a full circle around this quote. ;-)

This 'misuse' is common in politics today and is used to discredit the opposition.
