The fictional, crime-fighting vigilante known as The Shadow originally debuted as the announcer of Detective Story Hour, a radio program that was quickly eclipsed by the popularity of its own narrator. It is impossible for young members and guests to appreciate how popular radio dramas were before television started in the 1950s.

I was just one of many who regularly listened to The Shadow.

Radio forces you to use your imagination.

Good motion pictures also do the same, instead of showing everything in explicit detail.
