Hope, that is some cake! Drool

I'm surprised nobody mentioned poutine. That's also very Canadian to me.

However, on a slightly unsavory note...I was watching some old John Oliver episodes last night and was surprised to learn that Ashley Madison, the infamous website for cheating spouses, is Canadian.

Now, I'm not sure just how Canadian it is. I haven't been able to find out more about its original founder Darren Morgenstern, but it is said to be based in Canada.

Do you know about this or are you just as surprised as I am? How is Ashley Madison perceived in Canada?

P.S. I don't mean to rain on your parade. I am just genuinely surprised by this Angel

Priscilla, sorry I can't help. I had heard about it as people laughed about those being outed, but I never did hear the name. I googled it now and under Contact Us they list CDN holidays so I assume that is so people know when they are not open and therefore it is a Canadian operation.

Unless someone is interested in such behavior, I doubt most Canadians know much about it.

My attitude is "to each his own". We do have all kinds of people here in Canada, the same as in any country.

Ashwin, you would love B.C. We lived in Burnaby for a couple of years and also house sat for 6 months in Victoria in winter of 2000. I love the mountains, water, and the boating and activities there. The gardens are fabulous, the winter is easy - I'd be there now living in Victoria except my grandchildren are here. Victoria has the double-decker buses and there are great museums there too. You can get high tea like the British. It is a quaint little city. There are all kinds of tourist activities and sites to see, as well golfing and boating etc. People love to Whale watch. Stanley Park with its majestic ancient tress is a must see.

I hope you get there some day.

Hi Priscilla - I've never heard of your 'infamous' website either. Probably I'm too old.

Hope has a different excuse, of course - she's too moral and upstanding!

I'm not sure what that says about me, but I'd heard of it a while back. I didn't think it was still around though.

Drag0, one can be old and still wants to stick it where it doesn't belong, so your point is moot Whistle Whistle

Don't worry progpen, I reckon your reputation is still intact as it is a controversial website so you probably heard about it from the news (one can only hope? Pray Whistle )

I only learned of its existence when it launched in Japan (probably why I thought it was a Japanese invention?) and the Singapore govt denounced it. I also have the same philosophy as Hope - to each his own - or live and let live, as I'd like to say it. I suppose cheating on one's spouse is not nice but at least the website is honest about it Think
