The second wave of ransomeware attacks has gone global. MS has released a series of security updates to protect computers from the latest rounds of ransomware. These updates include patches for older operating systems.

That's too many updates. I will probably forbear.

There were 12 updates for my XP system. The installation went fine. No problems.

Ok! I tried but was not that lucky.

Three of them tried to install a plug-in which (installation) failed. I could download the remaining five but their installation also failed. Not a single one installed. :(

What order did you attempt to install the patches? I started with table 1 and worked my way left to right, then did the same with table 2 and, lastly, table 3. Most of the updates asked to reboot after the install. It's best to let it go ahead and reboot rather than save up all reboots for the end.

This is what I tried first. Then I tried to install the IE9 update first hoping that would solve the problem with the plug-in. To no avail.

I only have seen a virus on my computers twice in all my life and that was when I ran DOS on those. And I have never used any antivirus software. Why would I care?
