What does " Pan Width " mean here?

It looks like that's the width of the wheel.
What I'd call rim width.
(Important as how wide a particular size of tyre is in practice depends on the width of the rims it is mounted on.)

'pan' because it holds the tyres - in cross section it is shallow, flat, with a rim either side? Think
