Guns are dangerous when in the hands of the wrong people. Criminals should not have guns. People with mental illnesses should not have guns. Children should not have guns. Actually, except for those people who are serving in the military, or law enforcement officers, no American citizen should have a gun. Here is an example of the reason why.

"A 14-year-old freshman shot and killed herself after shooting and wounding another female student at Alpine High School in west Texas. The freshman shot the other student at school before killing herself, authorities said, but details about what led to the shooting weren't immediately available. Alpine police Chief Russell Scown said his department received word that students were running out of the school about 9 a.m. local time. A deputy happened to be driving by and entered the school's band hall. He found the shooter dead in a bathroom with a gun nearby."

Teenagers and children are dying by guns in America. This should not be happening. How was a teenager able to get a gun and go to school with the weapon? When is it going to end? Why does such a tragic story not even get much attention anymore? When will this insanity end?

Peace.

Oh Chazlee. There are so many reasons that things like this don't wind up in the news. Of course, some do, but I've noticed that as the incidences of these vicious, tragically avoidable events multiply, the news industry, in their continuing search for selling the news (and isn't it: if it bleeds it leads!) must sift through countless tragedies for the very most shocking, hideous, too awful to believe event. So many to choose from!

As the bodies pile up, the audience grows jaded and overwhelmed simultaneously. There is just so much compassion and shock a person can take, so people shut themselves down to keep from expiring from it all. Largely, the shut downs are successful. Folks run out of adrenalin.

There is also the awful suspicion that the constant tsunami of blood, pain, injustice and indifference in high places creates a society in which the rat-a-tat-tat of 24/7 sensational news is broadcast and heard, but no one is really listening.

What do you think, Chazlee?

Variety is the spice of life. Lack of variety is the spouse of life.

I totally agree with what you have written. There are so many gun deaths in the USA that people do feel overwhelmed and defeated, so we often try to ignore what is happening as there is really nothing anyone can do about this tragic mess we are in. Still, it is hard to ignore, and forget, the stories of those who have died from guns, and the family members who are suffering from the terrible damage guns have done to their loved ones. The truth is that we all know that 14 year-old girls should not have guns to take into their schools. So while we may be tired of hearing about such cases, it is important that we not ignore what is happening in our nation.

Peace.

Have you heard about what happened in the California city of Fresno two days ago?

A male individual walked up to three men and shot them dead.

The killer said that he hated people of the victims' ethnicity.

The killer said that people of his ethnicity have been badly treated in the United States, so he felt justified in slaughtering those three men.

Of course, the American media have given this horrific crime very little publicity.

Baloney. It is on CNN, NBC, LA TImes, Fox News, ABC, New York Times, New York Post, Associated Press to Canada, and the UK Guardian and Daily Mail etc. I can't remember all the links that came up - and it was two days ago. We heard all about it two days ago.

We are all getting enured to the violence, loss of life, and nastiness in society.

Actually it is amazing a shooting still IS news in the US. Although it was a hate crime against whites.

Hear! Hear!

The atate of Arkansas wants to execute 8 of them.

The courts have been trying to stop the executions.

But yesterday, Arkansas was able to make sure that at least one of them will never, ever hurt anyone again.

I can imagine people like TheParser feel very "justified" in having people "slaughtered".
And I can imagine that that murderer acted to "make sure that at least three people will never, ever hurt anyone again".
