The article is misleading. It talks about killing the flu virus. This is technically incorrect. Viruses are not alive. They can't be killed. They are molecular parasites. An isolated virus is as inert as a piece of rock. It is subject only to the second law of thermodynamics, i.e., entropy. It has no respiration, does not consume anything, produces no waste and cannot reproduce.
