Bal du Rat Mort

A huge carnival and ball, Bal du Rat Mort is concentrated in the casino of Ostende, Belgium, but also spread out all over the town. The carnival began at the end of the 19th century, launched by members of the Oostende Art and Philanthropic Circle (Circle Coecilia) who named the affair for a café on Montmartre (a hilly part of northern Paris, home to many artists) where they had whiled away pleasant hours. The 119th edition of Bal Rat Mort is the first time an entire weekend. 3 We are immersed until March 5 in the 40s and liberation. We give five reasons to be absolutely at.



1. 119TH EDITION OF BAL RAT MORT

Bal Rat Mort is the most famous ball of Belgium with a particularly rich and fascinating history, dating back to the Paris of the Belle Epoque. The charity was organized in Ostend for the first time in 1898. The ball goes naturally with his time, and was therefore completely renovated!

2. JAMES ENSOR

James Ensor was a member of the Cercle Coelia and one of the founding members of the ball. He belonged to the group Ostend men who put on stilts near around Montmartre in 1896. The company came after the Moulin Rouge among others also enter the Rat Mort, which made a house pianist and some spirited dancers for help and support.

3. LIBERATION BALL

Bal Rat Mort is fully dedicated to the 40s. The Kursaal is immersed in the atmosphere of the great liberation with live bands, The Retro Rockettes, a photo decor, dance initiations, various themed acts and the famous costume contest.

4. DRESS CODE REQUIRED
A ball is nothing without the appropriate dress code. Remember the 40s and sailors, airmen, military pin-ups, swing style ... The campaign already gives a good direction, but in specialized stores they know what to do. Or ... let your inspiration but completely unrelated!

4. VERY WEEKEND
Perception is central to this great ball. A live band, a dance initiation and various burlesque acts must ensure that the visitors during the pre-party on Friday already getting in the mood for the big ball Saturday. On Sunday, the theme weekend ends with a brunch restaurant Ostend Queen. No better place than the rooftop restaurant at Kursaal Oostende to expel the male with good food.
