Yeah, youth is an ornament... Old age is too, but not to such degree.

Even in one's childhood one should not be too shy, IMO. In adult years it becomes a real obstacle. The philosopher is right.

That ornament to youth is modesty which clothes bashfulness. The reproach to old age for holding on to it
is that it shed the modesty to become an overgrown mediocrity.
