More evidence of how deeply the current administration is tied to Putin.

Sessions, a former senator from Alabama who was among Trump’s early and most vocal surrogates on the campaign trail, did not disclose the conversations when asked during his Senate confirmation hearing in early 2017 about possible contacts between Trump’s campaign and Moscow.

As the new attorney general, Sessions will have significant oversight of an investigation by the FBI into Russia’s role in the US election and any links to associates of Trump.

So I guess it's pretty convenient that he will be in charge of following up on his own ties to Russia.

Please take your political obsession to an appropriate blog. It doesn't belong here. Actually, it's ANNOYING here.

This is in the right subforum. If it's popping up on the front page and you'd rather it not, then you can contact the admins about having this feature (e.g. filter new forum posts.) Or if you don't want to see random new topics, you can unpin/pin the new forum posts feature.

Also, my goodness...I took a nap and when I woke up I saw this news. Maybe I should take more naps.

Oh and Northwestern's men's basketball team probably clinching an NCAA tournament win.

I particularly enjoy the idiom section of this fine website.

If you wish to be in denial about what's happening in your country, don't visit a Politics forum.

It is not just the fact that he did meet with them, but that he later lied about it during confirmation hearings and security interviews.

Please take your political-obsession obsession to an appropriate blog. People are trying to get on with what this forum was made for. If you don't like that, talk to the admins/don't read the politics forum/leave.

As with a lot of smallminded objections, this is an example of a waste of time for everybody concerned. It does not provide any alternative location for the post to be situated, so achieves absolutely nothing.

If palapaguy is unable to provide a constructive and informative comment then they should not bother to post here.

A tweet I noticed just now:

"I did not have international relations with that country!"

Sessions has to be gone. He really, really has to be.

And (possibly) another view of this sad state of affairs.

http://www.theonion.com/article/heartbroken-russian-ambassador-thought-special-mee-55432

WASHINGTON—Expressing surprise and sadness at Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ repeated denials of contact with Russian officials during the 2016 presidential campaign, heartbroken Ambassador Sergey Kislyak told reporters Thursday that he thought his special meetings with the then–Alabama senator were actually very memorable. “To be honest, our two conversations hold great significance for me, and I can’t help but be upset to learn that Jeff felt otherwise,” said the tearful Russian diplomat, adding that he simply could not believe that Sessions could so nonchalantly dismiss the many hours they spent discussing the intimate details of their lives, including their innermost hopes and fears for their respective countries. “It really hurts to think that Jeff doesn’t cherish the afternoons we spent sitting in his office exchanging information about everything under the sun. These were some of the most meaningful discussions of my life, and Jeff’s writing them off like they didn’t even happen. How could he be so cruel?” Kislyak went on to say that even his subsequent communications with former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn never for a moment made him forget the precious time he and Sessions spent together.
