http://www.renewableenergyworld.com/articles/2017/01/report-us-solar-wind-jobs-up-geothermal-jobs-down.html

From 2Q15 to 1Q16, U.S. wind power jobs increased 32 percent and solar jobs increased 25 percent, while geothermal jobs decreased 25 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2017 U.S. Energy and Employment Report.

And since there have been more jobs in solar than all fossil fuel jobs combined since 2015 (in the US), this means that even with the many roadblocks created by state and local governments and the fossil fuel industry that the solar and renewable energy industry continues to pull ahead.

The global renewable energy workforce has surpassed 8.2 million, while the fossil fuel industry has slashed 350,000 jobs globally.

One area that needs to be addressed is diversity in the renewable energy sector since “These energy-related sectors are relatively less diverse compared to the overall national workforce. Women are a smaller portion of the workforce in these sectors, ranging from 22 to 34 percent…[and t]he percentage of ethnic and racial minorities is slightly lower than the national average.”

Veterans, however, comprise about one in 10 workers in the energy-related sector, “higher than the national average of seven percent,” the report said.

I don't doubt that the fossil fuel industry will be dragged kicking and screaming into the dustbin. However, they will do as much damage as they can in the meantime.

Look at the date on this "Thought for Today" from "Wordsmith". Seems even more apropos today because nobody listened back then.

It is horrifying that we have to fight our own government to save the environment. -Ansel Adams, photographer (1902-1984)

Ansel Adams was a great artist and environmentalist. And his quote is spot on.
